Throughout my 18 year career in the Health and Social Care sector, I have taken on roles that require both empathy and strong leadership. Every step has taught me more about the challenges of care, strengthened my commitment to high standards, and fuelled my passion for supporting people—whether they are clients, colleagues, or entire organisations.
My work has involved a wide range of responsibilities, including managing care teams, protecting service users, implementing regulations and guidelines, and encouraging continuous improvement. I have been able to make a big difference by working with many different organisations, helping them improve quality and meet regulatory requirements.
• Leadership and Team Development: I have led various teams, focusing on clear communication, mentoring, and helping staff grow through ongoing training.
• Crisis Management: My job often meant facing unexpected problems, like safeguarding incidents, staff shortages, or new rules. I stayed calm under pressure and led with honesty, which helped achieve good results for both clients and staff.
• Service Reviews and Action Planning: I carried out detailed reviews to find what was working well and where there was room for improvement.
• Regulatory Readiness and Quality Assurance: I have guided care providers as they got ready for inspections.
• Change Management: I have helped organisations through big changes, like mergers, growth, or adapting to new rules.
• Expert Witness and Investigations: My experience allowed me to act as an expert witness in safeguarding cases or quality issues.
I am still dedicated to making a positive difference, whether I am working directly in care, advising organisations, or training others. The challenges in health and social care are significant—like staff shortages, high demand, and changing regulations. But I remain hopeful, inspired by the dedication and creativity of people in this field and by the importance of our work.
