Care England: Championing and Strengthening Adult Social Care

Care England is the leading representative body for independent adult social care providers across England. Our members range from small, single-site homes to some of the largest national gro

Our mission is to secure a sustainable, innovative and person-centred social care sector. We represent providers to central and local government, parliamentarians, regulators such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and the NHS, ensuring that policy, funding and regulation work in practice and deliver for both providers and the people they support.

Care England is recognised as a trusted partner and critical friend to government. We provide evidence-based analysis and champion fair funding to meet the true cost of care. Our advocacy focuses on the sector’s most pressing issues:

•        Workforce and recruitment – influencing pay and conditions, overseas recruitment policy and professional development.

•        Funding and commissioning – challenging underfunding and securing sustainable fee rates.

•        Regulation and quality – supporting members through CQC reforms and promoting best practice.

•        Integration and innovation – ensuring social care has an equal voice in integrated care systems and benefits from digital and data-driven approaches.

Alongside advocacy, Care England equips members with tools and intelligence to improve quality, efficiency and resilience. Our digital innovations, such as SMART Care Intel, distil vast datasets, from CQC reports to NICE guidance, into actionable insights. Other SMART platforms focus on ESG reporting, investment readiness and quality improvement, enabling providers to move from reactive compliance to proactive excellence.

We also deliver national events, webinars and peer networks that share solutions and drive improvement. Publications like the Sector Pulse report and SSS magazine provide essential analysis and showcase innovation across the sector.

Care England collaborates with government departments, the NHS, local authorities, universities, think tanks and specialist partners in areas such as energy efficiency, insurance and legal services. These partnerships help members navigate complex challenges, from energy procurement to assisted dying legislation, while supporting research and innovation that elevate sector standards and influence policy.

Above all, Care England exists to give independent care providers a strong and influential voice, by shaping policy, providing practical tools and fostering collaboration, to ensure that adult social care is recognised and resourced as vital national infrastructure.
