Most care technology only helps after something has already happened, like an alarm being pressed or a fall. Genus aims to catch things earlier. Its sensors detect when something differs from a person’s normal routine, such as moving around less or sleeping at odd times. The right people are told, so a care professional can check in and decide what to do. Genus supports their judgement, and the care team still makes the decisions.
Staff can respond in the same system. They can make video calls, send medication reminders, or contact family, and a shared calendar keeps everyone up to date on the daily routine. The older person uses Genus Frame, a touchscreen that looks like a normal photo frame, so it doesn’t feel like medical equipment. Genus Pal is part of the range too. Families have their own app, and care professionals use the portal and the professional app.
Falls play a major role in this. Fall monitoring is already well covered, so we’re focusing on prevention and prediction. Through GaiTwin, from our partner Age Impulse, we want to help care teams see who is at risk before a fall happens.
Providers don’t have to buy everything at the start. Someone at home can start with an alarm button and the family app, and a residential home can use Genus as its nurse-call system. We can add more sensors, functions, and integrations later. In the future, we want to support hospital-at-home services.
We believe technology should fit around the person, not the other way round, and help people stay independent and connected to the people who matter to them.
Thirty years of experience in secure connected technology underpins everything IRIS IoT does. We know what makes a system reliable, secure and simple to use, and we bring that to social care through Genus Care.
Its sensors spot changes in a person’s routine before an alarm is pressed, and GaiTwin goes a step further by helping predict and prevent falls, not just record them. Everything sits in one platform, from the Genus Frame touchscreen to the family and professional apps, and it grows as care needs change.
For C-CAF members, it’s proven technology you can recommend with confidence, helping care teams act earlier while every decision stays with them.
